Alexandru “Alex” Uichita passed away doing what he always did — showing up for others. Surrounded by his fellow firefighters, brothers and sisters beside him in service, Alex left this world the same way he lived in it: with courage, loyalty, and heart.

Born in Romania, Alex immigrated to Canada as a young boy alongside his family, where he built a life defined by humor, hard work, generosity, and deep love for the people closest to him. He had a larger-than-life personality — outgoing, funny, quick-witted, and the kind of person who could turn strangers into friends within minutes. Everyone who knew Alex has a story about him, usually one involving laughter.

Above all else, Alex was a devoted father to Bowie, Teddy, and Rosie, whom he loved fiercely and protected endlessly. His children were the center of his world and his proudest accomplishment. He was also a loving husband to Leigh-Anne, building a beautiful life together in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, a place he proudly called home.

Alex loved the simple things that made life meaningful — working his land, farming, dreaming up projects, making people laugh, and spending time with those he cared about most. Whether he was helping a friend, or chasing his kids around the yard, he lived fully and authentically.

He also served proudly as a volunteer firefighter in his community, always willing to answer the call and help others without hesitation. That sense of duty, loyalty, and selflessness was simply who Alex was.

He is deeply mourned by his mother, Rose and his brother Leonardo, sister-in-law Amanda, extended family, lifelong friends, and all those whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.Though his time here was far too short, Alex leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, courage, and unforgettable memories that will live on through his family, friends, and children forever.

A private family service will take place.

To all of Alex's extended family, friends, public and members of the Fire Brotherhood, thank you for the incredible outpouring of care, support, and kindness. Your messages, prayers, and presence have meant more than words can express. In difficult moments, your compassion and strength remind us how powerful community truly is. We are deeply grateful for each and every one of you.
