Barry Brookes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Allen Brookes, who departed this life peacefully on August 17 2025, at the age of 88. Barry was born on June 23, 1937, in Toronto Ontario, to Harvey Busher Brookes and Mabel Irene Brookes (nee Johnston).

Predeceased by sisters Jean (Wallace), Shirley (George), brother Glenn (Laura), and survived by brother Guy (Yvonne).

Barry was a dedicated husband to Marilyn Margaret Brookes (nee Campbell), his loving wife of 66 years, and a devoted father to Kevin (Karen), and Linda (Jerry). He was a proud grandfather of Courtney (Logan), Jeremy (Alyssa), Amanda, Matthew (Katy), Martin (Hannah), David (Alexandria), Samantha, and Matthew (Madison) and great grandchildren Louella, Oliver, Walter, Charlie, Mylah, Maxwell, and Jack.

Barry had a lengthy career with LCBO in Barrie and Stroud. He was a well-known local dedicated musician (guitar and bass), singer, and song writer who enjoyed intarsia and glamping after retirement.

Barry’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. A funeral service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie Ontario (Parking and main entrance on Hwy 400 side of building) on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St Andrews Presbyterian Church of Barrie or a charity of your choice in Barry’s memory.
