“Where there is deep grief, there was great love”. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the gentle passing of Connie Fletcher-Shank with family by her side. Connie, a lifelong resident of Temiscaming, Quebec, was born on August 5th, 1946, and transitioned out of this life on Holy Friday. Through her journey, she touched many lives with her passion for her family and for teaching. Connie’s teaching legacy of 35 years will forever be an inspiration to many.
Connie is survived by her soulmate, Richard Shank, married almost 60 years, with whom she shared her strong faith. Her only daughter, Carolyn Walsh, son-in-law Shane, and grandsons Braedon and Riley and granddaughter-in-law Chloe, will miss her kindness and generosity. Connie was incredibly proud of them all.
Connie is also survived by her favorite sister, Marion Fletcher (Ivan) and her favorite brother, Randy Fletcher (Sheila) and her love for her many nieces and nephews will be cherished. Her wisdom, artistic talent, and strong sense of fashion will be remembered by all. Connie also loved her sisters-in-law, Diane (Roger) and Joanne (Dan) and brothers-in-law, Robert, Marquis (Denise), Larry (Linda) and Dan (Ghislaine).
Connie leaves behind a number of special friends whom she loved dearly, especially Marlene Rathwell, who was of tremendous support to both her and her family.
Connie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lyla (Vizena) and Donald Fletcher, and her older sister, Sandra.
Connie devoted her life to teaching and to her students (Ottawa, North Bay, and Temiscaming). She continued to love her many students as they loved her. She remembered each and every one of her students and went on to teach some of their children.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at her and Richard’s favorite church in Kipawa, Quebec.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Her International or to Hospice Simcoe.
