It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cornelis "Kees" Tengnagel on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Barrie, Ontario. Born on May 29, 1947, in the Netherlands, Kees dedicated a significant portion of his life to his unwavering faith in God’s Word. He pioneered eight churches and, alongside his beloved wife Faith, served as Pastor for an impressive thirty-three years.
Kees was a simple man, yet his life was filled with an extraordinary faith in his Saviour, and a great love for his family, and of course, horses. A ‘stubborn dutchman’, he loved to help people find freedom and truth in God’s Word. Kees believed wholeheartedly that “God is your answer, not your problem,” a motto that inspired many and served as a guiding principle throughout his pastoral journey.
Beloved husband and soulmate of Faith (nee Woods) for 53 years. Loved father to Angela Colyer (Jon), and Matthew (Pam). Cherished grandfather to Levi Colyer. Dear brother to Dolf Tengnagel. Kees will be forever loved and remembered by extended family and friends.
Kees' life will be celebrated at Legacy Funeral Home 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie, Ontario (main entrance and parking on Hwy 400 side of building), where friends and family are invited to pay their respects. The visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM until time of memorial service in the Chapel at 11 o'clock a.m. Reception to follow.
Kees’s life was a testament to his commitment to his Lord and Saviour, embodying a tenacious faith and determination. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Staywell Suites Charity, who provided accommodation in Toronto for Kees and his family during his treatment at Princess Margaret, would be greatly appreciated.
