Craig Thomas Cudahy
It is with broken hearts filled with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Craig Thomas Cudahy—Husband, Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle, and friend to so many—who passed away at home in Barrie at the age of 47.
Our hearts rest in knowing that Craig is now in the presence of Jesus, his all-sufficient Savior and Lord. We rejoice that the Lord is able, able to make every knee bow to Him. Last May, Craig, Nycole, and Brooke studied the Bible together to recognize our absolute insufficiency to stand right with God apart from Christ. Now we rest in Craig’s words: Thank-you to my Lovely wife and Beautiful daughter for never giving up on me and showing me the way to Christ.
Until we meet again.
Craig was born April 17th, 1976, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, where he quickly settled into Scarborough and then soon after in Edmonton before making Barrie his permanent home. There, at the age of 15, he unknowingly met his lovely wife, Nycole. Over the years they spent more and more time together, and it didn’t take him long to realize that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. They married in Las Vegas, Nevada, because he wanted something that would be special and memorable (just as he will always be). Together, Craig and Nycole welcomed their three dear children, Gavin, Brooke, and Ayden, into their lives to become their family of five. From a young age Craig was well acquainted with his God designed bent for work, which all led him to landing in the automotive industry. He first learned how to fix cars through Nycole’s Uncle, John Saunders, where he quickly realized that becoming an automotive technician was the career path that he wanted to take. Not only would he be able to save money when it came time to fixing his vehicles, but it would allow him to make them run faster. Indeed, Craig liked speed. He then worked at changing oil at Walmart before getting his apprenticeship at Douglas Ford. Craig then graduated from the Ford Asset program at Centennial College. Although he was most well versed with cars, his knowledge was transferable: he worked with ski lifts; he installed vehicle tracking devices; he fixed car wash facilities; he worked in various parts departments; and he oversaw vehicle repair. He could never stay too long in one place for work; he was always moving around, and sometimes he would be back for more.
Craig was best known for his large personality, sense of humour, quick wit, and (literally!) unbelievable life stories. He naturally radiated his inner child by appreciating the little things in life like opening packs of hockey cards with his sons (Quick Fact: Every time Tim Hortons came out with a new series of cards he was sure to come home with a coffee and at least twenty packs of hockey cards), playing with his remote control cars and drone, gaming on his XBOX, binge watching TV shows, listening to music, and finding himself lost in TikTok videos which he continuously shared to us. Over the years he also spent a considerable amount of time building his 1989 Mustang from the ground up.
He will forever be remembered for the ways he demonstrated his unconditional love and care to his wife and children. Because if there was any one specific thing that he would talk about to anyone, it would undoubtedly be his wife and kids. I will always be your Lovely Wife. I will always be your Big Al. I will always be your Beautiful. I will always be your Handy. I love you more.
