Born on February 15, 1948, in Derbyshire, England, Dorothy moved to Canada at the tender age of four where she spent her formidable years in Toronto. Her journey through life was marked by a spirit of resilience and a deep commitment to her family and friends.
Beloved wife of Jim for 56 years. Cherished mother to Chris (Tina), and Cathy DeJong (Rick). Loving grandmother to Jamie, Tyler, Josh, Jacob, and Noah. Dear sister to Ann Hewitt (Bryan) of Wiarton, Ontario. Dorothy will be forever loved and remembered by many nieces, nephews, family here and in England, and friends.
For an impressive 31 years, Dorothy dedicated herself to various roles at H & R Block. Her work ethic and professionalism were admired by colleagues and clients alike, making lasting contributions to her workplace and community.
Dorothy, affectionately known as Dot, had a zest for life that shone through in her love for the great outdoors. As a child, she reveled in camping at Sibbald Point Provincial Park, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Family time was of utmost importance to her, and she cherished moments spent "at the cottage" in Beaverton, where laughter and love flourished.
Dorothy's legacy will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a profound impact on her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. The warmth of her spirit and the joy she found in simple pleasures will continue to resonate within the hearts of many.
Family would like to thank the staff of Lakeview Manor for their care and support in her final days.
