James Douglas Shearer

James Douglas Shearer, or Doug as everyone knew him, passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie on December 31, 2025. He was a dedicated electrician who truly loved his work. Over the course of his career, Doug had the opportunity to travel extensively, including to New Zealand, Hawaii, and throughout the southern United States. He was proud to have contributed to major projects, including helping to build the Pickering and Darlington nuclear power plants.

Doug came from a large family with six siblings, five boys (including Doug) and one Sister who kept up with her brothers. He lived most of his life in the Peterborough area.

Outside of his career, Doug was a skilled and creative woodworker. He found great joy in building toys for his grandchildren and crafting a wide variety of unique and interesting knickknacks, many of which will be treasured by his family for years to come.

He was predeceased by his wife of many years, Sally. He is survived by his children, Paul Shearer, Patty Eagles (nee Shearer) and her husband Darren, and his grandchildren, Kurtis and Kara.

Doug will be remembered for his strong work ethic, creativity, and the love he had for his family.
