On Father’s Day, Sunday June 19, 2022, Doug was unexpectedly called home to meet his Heavenly Father. He was no doubt welcomed with Jesus’ words “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
Doug was a dedicated husband to Yvonne of 64 years, and a proud father to: Gayla, Lori-Anne, and Debbie. Much loved father-in-law to Tony Matos, Ken McDonell, & Trevor Stach. Beloved Grandpa to Jason & Shantelle, Taylor & Sarah, Jared, Kali, Brodie & Logan. Great-grandpa to Nova. Big Brother to Barb (Russell) Black & Beth (Peter) Foggin.
Doug spent his life serving God in many different ministries including: directing Youth For Christ in Belleville & Calgary in their early married years, working at Gospel Films in Michigan, selling WORD RECORDS music & books to Bible Bookstores from Thunderbay to Newfoundland. He then worked at the WORD head office in Richmond BC. In retirement years, Doug & Yvonne were full-time RV’ers, travelling all over Canada & the USA, volunteering their time to serve at Christian camps, schools, missions & conference centres, and enjoying being “winter Texans” working at Rio Grande Bible Institute. Many people enjoyed reading of their adventures in their annual newsletters called “Stark’s Sojournings”.
Memorial service will take place on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:30 pm at Emmanuel Church, 374 Salem Rd, Barrie. Doors will open at 2:00 p.m.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Joy Bible Camp (https://www.joycamp.ca/donate.html)
