Eric Denyar

It is with great sadness that the family of Eric “Rick” Denyar announces his passing.

Rick was deeply loved by his devoted wife, Jan, and was a cherished brother, uncle, and great-uncle. He was also a valued neighbour and a loyal friend to many—especially his pool buddies, who knew his competitive spirit well. Rick had a larger-than-life personality and a gift for conversation; if you stopped to say hello, you were likely there for a while—and you wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Rick loved playing pool and never missed a good game show. He took great joy in driving his beloved red Mustang, which perfectly suited his spirited nature. He truly believed in being right (and often was), could talk a blue streak, and had an opinion on just about everything. After all, who needed a consumer report when you had Uncle Rick?

He was dedicated to his family, always ready with advice, stories, and laughter. Rick was a good neighbour—the kind who watched out for others and made his presence known in the best way. He firmly believed that eating was one of life’s great pleasures and approached it with genuine enthusiasm.

Rick will be remembered for his sharp wit, his confidence, his loyalty, and the unmistakable sound of his voice filling a room. He leaves behind many who will miss him dearly and remember him often—with a smile, a story, and maybe a game of pool.

Beloved husband of Jan for 44 years. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Doris (née Jardine) and Eric Denyar. He is survived by his sisters Gail (née Denyar) King and her husband Peter, and Nancy (née Denyar) Wisken and her husband Douglas. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Laura King, Christopher King, Brent Wisken (Hannah State), Paul Wisken, Kelly Blonski (Alex Blonski), Robyn Long (Patrick Long), as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews Zoe Blonski, Owen Long, and Evan Long.
