Gertrude Girard

Gertrude Girard passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the age of 89.

Beloved mother of Danny (Sharon), Wayne (Joanne), and Mike (Terry), she is now reunited with her cherished son Rick. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Jennifer, Scott (Connie), Bradley, Mandy, Nicholas, and Holly, and was predeceased by her granddaughter Sara. Gertrude will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Skylar and Amelia.

She is survived by her dear sister Agnes Laughlin and was predeceased by her siblings Frank, Roland, Cyril, Helen, Mary, Alice, Leo, and George.

Born in Prince Edward Island, Gertrude held a deep and lifelong love for her home province. She found joy in reading, sharing Maritime music with her family, and spending time with those she loved most. Her family will forever treasure her homemade cabbage rolls, chocolate chip cookies, her ever-present stash of jellybeans, and the many “back in the day” stories she so loved to tell.

A celebration of Gertrude’s life will be held in Prince Edward Island at a later date.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
