Gregory "Greg" Bowen

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Gregory Scott Bowen - Father, Grampy, Brother, Uncle, and friend to so many - who passed away suddenly at the age of 73.

Greg was born to Albert and Dorothy Bowen on February 10th, 1952 in Barrie, Ontario. He was the eldest of four children and is survived by his three siblings: Brent Bowen (Helen); Peter Bowen (Sharon); Lesa Bowen (David).

In Barrie Greg attended Prince of Wales Public School and Eastview Secondary School. It was at a hockey game that he met the love of his life Krystyna Kielbowski (predeceased). They married on December 4th, 1974 and almost reached their 50th wedding anniversary when Krystyna suddenly passed away.

Greg and Krys’ family grew with the birth of their four daughters: Elizabeth; Nycole (Craig [predeceased]); Natalie (Mark); Stephanie. He was a loving Grampy to Gavin, Emma, Brooke, Gabriel, Ayden, William, Benjamin, Timothy, Robert, Isabella, Rebekah, and Ava.

Greg lived and worked in Barrie his entire life. He was a hardworker, working at General Tire and then Hayes Dana before retiring. Greg also was an avid hockey player from a young age and continued playing before hanging up his skates a couple of years ago. He also enjoyed playing golf.

One of Greg’s favourite pastimes was socializing with his family and friends. Wherever he went he was sure to run into someone that he knew. He loved to laugh and always made those around him laugh with his stories.

It was through Krys that Greg was introduced to Jesus. He knew that Jesus died for his sins.

Family and friends will join together at Barrie Victory Centre, 80 Prince William Way, Barrie on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11 o'clock a.m. to celebrate the life of Greg. Private family interment to take place at a later date.
