Janet Claire Morrison
December 10, 1956 – October 6, 2025
Janet passed away on October 6, 2025, in Hospice Simcoe at 68 years of age from a long fight with breast cancer.
Janet was born on December 10, 1956, in Toronto and lived in and around Sutton and Jackson Point, where she attended Sutton Public School and graduated from Sutton District High School. During this time, she was also an international student at Ibadan School in Nigeria in 1972. She was a runner-up for Miss Sutton.
Janet worked in many positions during her life. She was a trainer for Hudson’s Bay and Blinds To Go, and worked in management for OCCA and EMC. She was also the President of the Purolator Scarborough location, as well as the co-founder of IFMA.
With an appreciation for the Arts, Janet enjoyed stage acting with Seneca College, and listening to a wide variety of music, from Pink Floyd, to reggae, to bagpipes, which honoured her Scottish heritage. Janet was an animal lover, loving enjoying spending time with dogs and cats, and was also loved dolphins and elephants. Janet loved to travel, and vacation in the Caribbean. She liked skiing, snorkeling, boating, collecting ceramics, and restoring old wood antique furniture. She attended Gilda’s Club as a member, and shared interest in other cancer members’ stories. She was one of the Gilda’s Club calendar ‘True Grit’ Raw and Reflective 2023, as Miss March.
Janet will be missed by her loving husband, Darwin Malley, and their dog Kozi. She was a beloved mother to Paul Dickenson (Toni Davis), and Adam Brandonberg. A cherished grandmother to Brittney and Avery. Dear sister to Ian Morrison (and good friend Justine), Mark Morrison (Michelle), and Paul Morrison (Monica), and aunt to Michaela and Connor. Janet is predeceased by her parents Claire Whitney Morrison and Margaret Ann Roach.
