Jason Holmes

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jason Edward Holmes (known affectionately as Jay or Holmes) at the age of 52 on June 21, 2025, at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario. He predeceased his beloved parents, Wilma and John.

Jason was a man of profound faith and dedication to his family. He cherished 28 beautiful years with his wife, Amy, and he was a devoted father to their children, Liam and Kiera. As a loving big brother to his sisters, Michelle Rose (Adrian) and Cindy (Jim), he poured his heart into his role as an uncle to his nieces and nephews: Ava, Landon, Trevor, Cole, Griffin, Sean, Ashleigh, Jameson, and Ellie. His unwavering support extended to his in-laws, Dorothy and the late Jack Howey, and he is fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Nicole and brother-in-law Joel (Jill), and to his many extended family and friends.

An avid sports enthusiast, Jason was well-known for his skills in flatland BMX biking, and he found joy in snowboarding and golfing. Proudly cheering for the Ottawa Senators, he nurtured a love for hockey that he passed on by coaching young players, inspiring them to pursue their passions.

Jason lived his life in faith until the end, embodying the spirit of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, located at 374 Salem Rd, Barrie, ON, at 11 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with visitation prior from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Pastor Warren Morris officiating. Burial will be a private family affair.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society in memory of Jason, supporting research and assistance for those affected by ALS.
