John Murrie

It is with great sadness that John’s family announces his passing. After a hard battle, he succumbed to severe heart failure and passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 18th, 2025, at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.

John treasured each of his 41 years with NAPA, where he made many friends during that time. He always looked forward to his Oakwood golf tournament, which was the highlight of his time with his gang. They started with their original 4 and eventually grew to over 30.

His happy place was his beloved ‘Murimac’ Island, and the memories are too many to list – thanks Dad and Mom for the privilege to have a piece of Muskoka.

His sister Christie has been his caregiver for the past few years, and he will forever be grateful to her. John’s loved ones were always very important to him, and he will be truly missed by all his family and friends.

Love you, Johnny – say hi to everyone in Heaven.

A Celebration of Life will take place in Gravenhurst at The Discovery Centre Greavette Room, 275 Steamship Road, on June 27th, 2026, at 2:00 o'clock p.m. — please come and join us, our family and friends, to give John a Muskoka send-off.
