John Phillips

Passed away with his wife Carol by his side at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Friday, December 19, 2025, just one day after his 71st birthday.

John, a longtime and dedicated employee of Priestly Demolition and passionate sports enthusiast who lived a life that exemplified hard work and dedication, traits that were well-recognized by all who knew him.

John's love for sports was particularly evident in his unwavering support for the Buffalo Bills. His enthusiasm for sports was matched only by his love for his family, especially his cherished grandkids and beloved cats. These aspects of his life brought him immense joy and provided him countless treasured memories.

Beloved husband of Carol (nee McMurter). Loved father to Maxine, Melanie, Maureen, and Lindsay. Cherished grandfather of Sydney, Rebecca, Sergio, Alyson, Thomas, Sara, Souzzi, Haiden; and great grandfather of Phoenix, Dalilah, Trinity, and Maverick. Dear brother of Diana, Cathy (Mike), and Jim (Colleen).

Family and friends will be received at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie (parking and entrance on Hwy 400 side of building) on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 1 to 4 PM and again on December 29, 2025, from 10 to 10:45 AM, funeral service in the Chapel at 11 o’clock AM. Reception to follow. Private family interment will be held later.

John Phillips leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His contributions to both family and community will be greatly missed, and he will be remembered fondly by all who encountered his warmth and passion for life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Humane Society or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
