Judith Ann McKay (formerly Davis) died on October 29, 2026, at her home in Barrie, Ontario. Judy was born in North Bay on May 30, 1948, the only child of the late John Kenneth McKay and Bernice Irene (Winters). She always stayed connected to her hometown family. Judy graduated from Carleton University and Hamilton Teachers College before starting her career in 1974 as a primary school teacher with the Simcoe County District School Board. Since retiring in 2001, she thrived on being with friends, playing bridge, and pursuing new interests and experiences. Later in life she shared adventures with her companion Derek Egan. Judy’s many friends will miss her subtle humour, her kindness, and her devotion to a contemplative and spiritual life along the “quieter path.” She is survived by her much-loved son, John McKay Davis, of British Columbia. A gathering to remember Judy will be held at 47 Rodney Street in Barrie, on Sunday, November 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. For those who wish to do so, donations may be made online or through Legacy Funeral Home (705-728-8282) to Strong Start Charitable Organization, a Canadian initiative that helps young children learn to read.
