We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved Leslie passed away on August 19, 2025 at beautiful Hospice Simcoe in Barrie. She was surrounded by her family as she peacefully passed on to the heavens above. Her courage and strength throughout the six-month battle with cancer, heart attack and stroke was an inspiration for all who provided support. Leslie is survived by her devoted husband, Brendan Burns, her loving and committed children with her late husband, Brian Phair , Shannon Phair (2018) (Ryan Weisser), Jennifer Phair (John Russell), Leanne Phair (Chad Springer), Dan Phair (Nikki Hyma), Father Dave Papa Joyal (Nicole Corbi), and her late Mother, Margaret Joyal.
Les was dearly loved by her two sisters, Karen Beaumont (Blaine) and Janet Browne (Barry Kashin), Sisters in Law, Nancy Campbell (Jim), Gord Phair (Wendy) Marlynne Danaher, Cindy Bamattter (Paul), her special grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Rylen Raine, Aidan, Amelie, Juno and Case.
Her nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles all had a special place in her heart.
Les was our backbone and matriarch of the family. She was an exceptional cook and baker and was always planning the next craft project. The veggie garden plot kept her and hubby busy with pickling, making salsa and sauces and she enjoyed sharing the harvest with others each season.
Les grooved to music and had fun challenging others to name that tune or artist. Dance, dance, dance...loved dancing! She should have been an astronomer or a meteorologist for all the time she gazed at our ever-changing sky. She and Bren had some wonderful trips to Alaska, Hawaii and Costa Rica to name a few. All that said, what she loved the most was her people, young and old.
She volunteered at home in Sandycove Acres with the Community Spirit Committee and the shuffleboard leagues. Along with Brendan, she was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Barrie where she gave countless hours of her time for others.
Family and Friends are welcome to join us at Leslie’s Celebration of Life to be held Thursday, August 28th, 2025 at 1 o'clock p.m. at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive,.(Parking and Entrance is on the Hwy 400 side of building).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be greatly appreciated.
