Lorna June Steele

Passed away peacefully at Grove Park Home, Barrie, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, one month shy of her 94th birthday.

Lorna was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit touched everyone who knew her. She spread happiness wherever she went and will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and the genuine interest she took in the lives of others.

Beloved mother of the late Elizabeth (David) Turnbull, Katherine (late Mark) Gray, and Allison (Scott Caston) Steele. Cherished grandmother of Christine (Evan) Smart, Andrew (Rebecca) Gray, Taylor Gray, Hayley Steele, and Grace Turnbull. Proud great-grandmother of Oliver, Lily, Hazel, and Lewis Smart; Brooklynn and Elizabeth Gray; and Moose Gray 🐾, who all brought immense joy to her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Lorna was dearly loved by Harris Steele and Ernie Gilmore, both predeceased. She was also predeceased by her brother and sisters. She will be forever remembered and lovingly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Lorna had a deep love of adventure, travel, and storytelling. She delighted in sharing memories of her experiences and journeys, keeping those moments alive through the stories she told over the years. Her vibrant spirit and love for life will remain with all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private family celebration of Lorna’s life will be held. If so desired, memorial donations to Grove Park Home, Barrie, would be appreciated.
