Maciej Tomasz Górniewicz, November 4, 1955 – January 31, 2026

Maciej Górniewicz passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 70.

He was the beloved partner of Janina Regulski; a devoted and loving father to Karolina Staszak (Tobi), adored stepfather to Dagmara Regulski (Roy), and Maria Herbert-Macaulay; and a cherished grandfather to Zechariah, Mya, Natan, and Oskar. Maciej was a dear brother to Hanna Bukowski, a loving uncle to Basia Bukowski-Palmer, and a kind soul to his grandnephew Louis.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his extended family and many lifelong friends. His strong belief in family values was evident both in Canada and in Poland, where his roots remain.

Maciej had an enormous heart and cared deeply for those he loved. When he wasn’t driving across North America for work, he treasured time spent with Janina—working on their home and garden, taking walks to the beach, sitting by a bonfire, traveling, playing games, watching sports, and enjoying precious moments with their daughters and grandchildren. They shared a rare and beautiful love, always putting one another first, right until the very end.

Maciej loved a good home-cooked meal—especially when prepared by Janina (“Bo Babcia zawsze robi najlepiej”). He took great joy in gathering family and friends around the table, sharing meaningful conversations, laughter, and simply being together.

A kind and gentle man with a warm presence, Maciej was known for his constant smile, infectious laughter, and a sense of humor that brought people together. He always wanted those around him to feel welcome and at ease, taking genuine joy in making sure everyone was having a good time. He went above and beyond for his family and friends, showing up with generosity, care, and quiet strength.

He was deeply loved, and his absence will be felt every day by those who will carry his memory in their hearts always.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Spirit Parish, 650 Essa Road, Barrie. A private family interment will follow immediately after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Maciej’s name may be made to Campbell House Hospice.
