It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Resendes on December 23, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in Santa Maria, Portugal, Maria passed away in her sleep in Midhurst, Ontario, surrounded by love and memories that will live on forever. She was a devoted and loving mother to her two sons, Tony and John Resendes; a cherished sister to her 11 siblings; a beloved aunt to many; and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to her treasured grandchildren.

Maria lived her life with love, kindness, and a joyful spirit. She will be fondly remembered for her humour, her quick wit, and her ability to bring laughter and light into every room she entered. Her faith, strength, and unwavering love for her family were at the heart of who she was. Her stories, jokes, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and laughter that will live on through generations.

Visitation will be held on December 31st, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Legacy Funeral Home, located at 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie, Ontario, L4N 5R7 (parking and entrance on Hwy 400 side of building), followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.

The burial service will proceed afterward at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 8361 Yonge St, Markham, ON L3T 3M1
