Martha Dick (formerly known as Martha Fabello)
Martha Lindsay Dick (formerly known as Martha Fabello, “Marty”) of Barrie, Ontario, passed away at her home on April 24th, 2026, at the age of 61 following a long illness. Born and raised in Barrie, Martha lived with warmth, intelligence, and a generous spirit that touched everyone she knew.
Martha was predeceased by her dear mother, Ruth Dick. She is survived by her much-loved father, Alfred Dick; her beloved sons, Ben and Nathan Fabello; and her sisters, Colleen Jay (Garth), Susan Morris (Pam Davidson), and Alison Kuepper (Mark). She is also fondly and lovingly remembered by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
From a young age, Martha had a natural charm that could light up any room; she was known for her kindness, warmth, intelligence, and strong academic abilities. Her laugh - unmistakably her mother Ruth's - was something anyone who knew the family would recognize instantly. After attending Allandale Heights Public School and Innisdale Secondary School in Barrie, she went to the University of Toronto and earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. For her, being a pharmacist fulfilled her desire to help people and make them feel seen and cared for.
Outside of her work, Martha found joy in music (Blue Rodeo was, by her own proud declaration, her favourite band), caring for her wonderful dogs, and losing herself in a good book. But above all else, the two people who held the most special place in Martha’s heart were her twin sons, Ben and Nathan. Motherhood was Martha's greatest joy and her deepest source of pride. She followed the lives of her boys with loving interest, celebrated every milestone, and loved them with her whole heart and soul through every part of their lives and hers; she was endlessly proud of the young men they became.
Martha’s essence is best captured in her kind soul, generous heart, and boundless love for those she held dear. Her family meant everything to her, and she expressed her love through quiet devotion and desire to help in whatever way she could. She remained deeply aware of the love shown by family and friends and often expressed her gratitude for it. The love she gave - freely and wholeheartedly - remains her lasting legacy.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at 1 o’clock pm with visitation from 12 pm at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive Barrie (Parking and entrance on Hwy 400 side of building 705-728-8282). In memory of Martha, donations to Hospice Simcoe or the Orillia SPCA would be welcome.
