Michael Lau

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Manfred Otto Lau on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the age of 70.

Beloved husband of Barbara for 45 years. Loving father of Stephanie (Stefan), Stephen (Erika) and Matthias. Adored Opa by his grandchildren, Kaito, Seiya and Sofia. Brother to Jens(Kerstin) and brother-in-law to Wolfgang, Britta (Bob)(Keith), Doris (Volker), Mike (Monika).

Mike was born in Lüneburg, Germany on July 20th, 1955 and moved to Canada in 1981 with Barbara. Originally trained in masonry, Mike developed a dedicated and hardworking mentality that would impart in his children. A man of many interests, Mike had a love of woodworking, music, and soccer.

Above all, Mike had a deep love for spending time with his family. He will be remembered fondly for his large personality and stature - “Big Mike” was integral to the family chemistry at gatherings, where many life lasting memories were created.

Mike’s devotion and love for his family will be forever remembered, cherished and passed on through his children and grandchildren.

Celebration of life for Mike will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie, (parking and entrance on Hwy 400 side of building) on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
