With deep love and heavy hearts, we share the passing of Michael Edward Mallon, who died peacefully in his sleep on May 3, 2025, at the age of 75, after a major stroke and a long, quiet battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Born and raised in Rexdale, Mike was the eldest of four siblings. He was a man of few words but endless curiosity — passionate about music, computers, tools, and figuring out how things worked (often reading the manual, cover to cover).
He spent over 40 years on the night shift at Crown Cork & Seal, working hard, never complaining, and always putting his family first. He met the love of his life, Sherry, at 17 — and they stuck together for 55 years.
Together, they raised two kids, Steven and Kareen, and filled their home with steady love, tech gadgets, and Christmases that always included a new tool kit.
Mike passed away at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, exactly one week after his stroke. He is survived by his wife Sherry; his children Steven (Jacqueline) and Kareen; his grandchildren Emma and Caden; his great-granddaughter Blakely; and his siblings Brian, Hugh, and Maureen.
He’ll be remembered for his quiet strength, dry sense of humor, deep love of family, and his signature problem-solving method: coffee in one hand, duct tape in the other.
Live long and prosper, Dad — wherever you are.
Family and friends will be received for a graveside service at Barrie Union Cemetery, 338 Sunnidale Road, on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2 o'clock p.m. If so desired, donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Huntington's Society.
