Paul Douglas Ranson passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 11, 2026, with his wife by his side.

Paul is lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Bev; his children Ray and Jan, Leanne and Paul; his grandchildren Mallory and Dave, Alexis and Kiefer, Eric, Katie, Matt and Kirsten; and his great-grandchildren Blake and Jakko.

Born in Port Perry, Ontario Paul served a 3-year tour of duty in the Canadian Army, 2nd Signals, with an honorable discharge. He loved to tell stories of his army days.

Paul's passion was creating life experiences for youth through Drum Corps, where he spent countless hours strengthening the activity as an instructor, manager, director, and founder.

In 1973 Paul founded The Ambassadors Drum & Bugle Corps in the Aurora-Newmarket area, giving hundreds of local youths the opportunity to shape their lives and create life-long memories.

Paul served many years as the contest director with both the Ontario Drum Corps Association and the Canadian Drum Corps Association.

Some of his happiest times involved pulling up a camp chair by the side of a soccer field, at a baseball diamond, or in a concert hall, cheering on his grandchildren.

In his quiet but determined way Paul has touched the lives of many who will remember him. As you read this, pause and remember a moment when Paul did or said something that was meaningful to you, and say a quiet "thank you" that we all shared his life.

Special thanks to the staff and volunteers of Hospice Simcoe who made his last days restful and pain free, giving his friends and family peace.

If you wish, a donation in Paul's memory to Hospice Simcoe can be made at https://hospicesimcoe.ca/

The family would also like to thank Legacy Funeral & Cremation Services in Barrie for their care and comfort.
