Randy Conrad

d. January 26, 2023

Lloyd Randall (Randy) Conrad

Randy passed away from cancer on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie with his son at his side.  He was born in Powassan, Ontario on December 6, 1952 and one of eleven children born to Lloyd and Edith Conrad (both predeceased).

Randy will be missed by his sons Wade of Barrie and Curtis of St. Catharines. Survived by their mother Cheryl Conrad. He will be remembered by his brothers Lewis (Marg) of Campbell River, B.C.; Terry (Laura) of Orr Lake; and sisters Patricia Conrad of Duncan, B.C.; Melanie Zuliani of Surry, B.C.; Faye Turner of Barrie; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Rocky, Elizabeth, Allan, Richard, and Wain.

It can be said that Randy lived his life on his own terms, truly one of a kind. He was a sports enthusiast and played ball for many local Barrie teams. He loved to fish, was an accomplished pool hustler, and the biggest fan of his beloved Seattle Seahawks. A Leaf fan he was not! But we will remember him best for his competitive spirit, especially during a card game when he would proclaim at the start “we all play hard, we all have fun and in the end I win!”. We dare say his competitive nature has passed down to his sons. Most of all Randy loved his sons and was so proud of the men they have become.

Randy grew up in Oro with his family running Conrad’s Fruit Market and later operating Oro Park and Guthrie arena. As a young man he spent most winters on Vancouver Island where a number of his family had moved to. After retirement Randy moved to Cape Breton, returning to live in Innisfil in 2020. He truly lived coast to coast.

For most of his work life he was with MNR-Midhurst Tree Nursery then with Ontario Parks at Earl Rowe and Springwater until it closed. His last job was at NTR.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dickson for his support and the staff and nurses at RVH for their excellent care during this past week.

The Conrad family have been long supporters of the Salvation Army as Edith Conrad was once a Soldier. In lieu of flowers and if so desired, a donation to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.

Cremation has taken place and a Visitation to celebrate the life of Randy will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie (entrance and parking on the Highway 400 side of building) on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 7-9 p.m.
