Kennett, Richard June 19, 1941 - June 2, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Kennett peacefully on Tuesday June 2, 2026, at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario at the age of 84, a beloved husband to Eleanor (Maxner) of 61 years with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership and cherished memories.

He leaves behind his loving daughters Carol (Rob Messenger) and Carrie (Rob Thompson), who will forever carry his wisdom, humour, and unwavering support with them.

He was a proud Papa to Christopher (Jade), Jonathan (Sabrina), Brandon (Maria), Laura (Damar), and Jess (Stephan), and an adoring great-papa to Omyra and Kayson, who brought him mmense joy and pride.

Richard was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to George Alexander Kennett and Emilia Gagné. Throughout his life he worked at Canada Post in which he later retired from. He truly loved his Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, where he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. Leafs and the Blue Jay games were more than just entertainment. They were a source of excitement, conversation, and connection with family and friends.

Those who knew Richard will remember his quick wit and wonderful sense of humour. He had a gift for making people laugh, easing difficult moments, and bringing joy to everyday life. Above all else, he treasured time spent with family. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments meant the world to him.

Richard’s legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, humour, and generosity. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
