With deep sadness we announce the passing of Richard Lempriere at Mariposa House Hospice in Orillia on Friday July 4th, 2025, at the age of 72.
He leaves behind his son Brian and his three siblings, Kim (Sharon Barnard), Tony (Anton Birawa) and Susan (Guy Beauchamp), as well as grand-daughter Hailey Harper, nephew Isaac Lempriere and niece Emma Rose Lempriere.
He is predeceased by his wife Carley (née McLeod) and son Derrick (Melissa Harper), and by his parents (Sue and Derrick Lempriere).
Born in Port Credit, Richard moved to Oro-Medonte Township as a boy with his parents in 1960. There he remained his whole life, building a family and his own construction business.
Richard was clever, resourceful, and fiercely independent. He marched to the beat of his own drum, paying little attention to outward appearances and welcoming everyone. Conversations with him were always interesting—he was opinionated, insightful and very funny!
Richard built his own house from the ground up and was happiest when in his workshop tinkering with engines. He loved drag racing, often going down to his favourite raceway in Norwalk, Ohio, with Carley and his sons in tow.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held later. In Richard’s memory, please plant a tree or adopt a stray cat.
Messages of condolence can be sent to Brian at b.lempriere@outlook.com.
