Robert "Bob" Morin,

Passed away at Mill Creek Care Centre, Barrie, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the age of 84.

Born on July 17, 1941, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Bob moved to North York when he was 10 years old. His family attended St. Edward’s church, and a highlight of his teenage years was riding to and from school on the back of a motorcycle driven by his good friend, Jon Bromley. Little did he know, Father Jon would later become a priest at St. Ed’s.

Bob graduated from Queen’s University, with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and worked for Texaco, later Imperial Oil, his entire career. He married Carol Dawson in 1966, moving to Stouffville in 1969, where they raised their three children: Cathy, Chris and Rob. Bob was active in his church, St. Mark’s, where he was a reader, and he also helped with the construction of the original church. In his spare time, Bob loved gardening and working with tools. He liked to build things, and he built a tree house for his kids that was the strongest tree house in the history of tree houses. He felt at home outdoors, especially in the forest, and he enjoyed going camping with his family in the family tent trailer, visiting locations like Moosonee, the Florida Keys and many Ontario provincial parks. When not working in his vegetable garden, he made time to coach kids’ hockey and was the convenor of the Stouffville minor softball league for many years.

After retiring, Bob moved to Oro, Ontario, where he enjoyed a view of Lake Simcoe. He adopted his beloved cats, Smokey, and later Scooter, and indulged in many of his favourite treats, including Dad’s cookies and ice cream – especially maple walnut – and fudgsicles. He also started his own business, Petroleum Environmental Management, which drew on his experience in the gas station industry to remediate environmentally contaminated properties.

Bob was a generous person, always willing to help others. He gave of his time, his expertise and his tools – he had a tool for every job! He was resourceful, honest and lived his life with integrity.

Loved father of Cathy (Dennis Wintjes); Chris (Sarri); and Rob (Suzanne McEachran). Cherished grandfather of Jonathan, Brandon, Evan; Sebastian, Connor; Christian (Tiffany), Autumn (Zach), Charla, and Lucas; and great grandfather to Molly. Bob is survived by his sister Shirley Bainbridge and predeceased by sisters Carol Bean and Peggy McKay.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 75 Churchill Ave, North York, on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11 a.m.. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial donations to CMHA Orillia or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.legacyfuneral.ca
