Rob was not one for extravagance; he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He relished in the tranquility of fishing, the satisfaction of tending to his vegetable garden, and the serenity of enjoying a cold beer while perched on his porch. A game of Scrabble could often be found on his agenda, as it provided not only amusement but also a delightful challenge for his sharp mind. His love for music colored his days, while his passion for watching hockey kindled excitement in his evenings.

One could not speak of Rob without mentioning his meticulously maintained lawn, a testament to his belief in a job well done. His homemade tomato sauce was enjoyed by many, and he often made mention of the precise way it needed to be prepared. Sundays were sacred in Rob's world, where he delighted in the aroma of bacon and eggs, often accompanied by the antics of The Three Stooges that played in the background. His culinary guilty pleasure was a good butter tart, a small indulgence that brought him joy, reflecting his appreciation for life's modest delights. Each year, Rob looked forward to his annual retreat to a cabin at Love Sick Lake, where he embraced the beauty of nature and the joy of peaceful reflection.

Though he was a jack of many trades, Rob dedicated many years to the noble endeavor of being a stay-at-home dad, nurturing his daughters with love and support. The sense of community was integral to his life, as he selflessly extended his helping hand to neighbors who had become like family. In recent years, he devoted himself fully to caring for his beloved wife, Trudy, embodying the essence of love and dedication.

Rob Paterson's presence was a gift to all who knew him. His quick wit and realistic, no-nonsense outlook on life, coupled with a heart that brimmed with kindness, will be profoundly missed. Beloved husband of Trudy (nee Exell) for 49 years. Loved father to Sheena and Megan (Allan Bigelow) Paterson. Cherished grandfather of Max and Zoe Bigelow. Dear brother of Pam (late Peter) Lockhart, and Chris Paterson. Brother-in-law to the late Susan (Larry) Harris, Terry (Linda) Exell, and Ron (Lisa) Exell. Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Jean (nee Coultas) Paterson. Rob will be forever loved and remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A private celebration will be held at a later date.
