Lazazzera, Rocco Anthony (Roy)
December 10,1954—June 1, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roy (Rocco) Lazazzera, in his 72nd year, at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie on June 1, 2026. For the past two years, Roy courageously fought cancer and always remained optimistic.
Roy was a proud and caring father to son Ryan (deceased) and daughter Kara Lazazzera (Gary). His lovely granddaughter, Myelle, has brought much joy to his life.
Roy is predeceased by his father Joseph and mother Ann. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Danny (Carolyn), Joey (Heather, deceased) and his sister Jo-Ann Buckley (Bob). Family was always important to Roy and he so loved his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. His many friends and neighbours will also miss him.
Roy was a very talented, self-taught rock guitarist. He enjoyed playing with his band Who's Callin' the Shots, who often performed at fundraisers for the O'Ryan Project for Cystic Fibrosis.
Over the years Roy worked at General Tire, Paragon Trade Brands, Vitality Beverages, Nestle and, most recently, a job he loved, at MacLean Engineering – always believing he would be able to return.
Roy loved to make guitars and to fix anything. He had the ingenuity to figure out the problem and the stamina to keep at it until he accomplished the task. He enjoyed solving puzzles and was proud of the fact that he could complete the Rubik's cube in 1 minute and 23 seconds.
Roy will be remembered for his love of music and for his extreme kindness towards others. He adored dogs and cherished his time with his poodle Red. He loved to laugh and enjoyed watching comedy shows. He believed that when you are laughing you forget any sad or troubling things happening in your life.
As per Roy’s wishes, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
