Rogelia Ajeno Doromal Ofreneo

November 28, 1950 – September 30, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Rogelia Ajeno Doromal Ofreneo, who passed away on September 30, 2026, at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario, following an eight-month battle with small-cell lung cancer complicated by leptomeningeal disease.

Rogelia was the beloved wife of the late Elmer Ofreneo, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Roel Ofreneo, as well as her parents, Ludovico Doromal Sr. and Patricia Doromal, and her siblings Rodolfo, Rogelio, Erlinda, Rufina, Emilia, and Ludovico Jr.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Ella and Shiela Ofreneo, son-in-law Fernando Caceres, grandchildren Alejandro, Alijah, Rodesha, Roshon, and Lathaniel, as well as her extended family, relatives, and many dear friends.

In her final 24 hours, Rogelia was surrounded by her family and closest friends. With the compassionate care of the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe, she was given a peaceful and dignified farewell. She was serenaded by Christine De Vera and Audrey Bushell, surrounded by those who loved her.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare team at the MAGNA Cancer Centre in Newmarket for their care throughout Rogelia’s cancer journey; to Ella’s colleagues who supported and looked out for Mom; and to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for welcoming and accommodating the entire family and providing comfort and compassionate care during her final days.

We are also deeply grateful to the Bayanihan community for their prayers, love, visits, food, and support throughout Mom’s journey, and to the De Vera-Miller, Mayugba, and Kumpula families for their continued love and support until the very end.

Rogelia will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Family and friends are welcome to join us as we celebrate Rogelia’s life and honour her memory at Legacy Funeral Home, 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie (access off Edgehill Drive, parking and entrance on Hwy 400 side of building) on Sunday, October 18, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with informal Tributes at 1:30 p.m.
