Ross Elliott Phillips
(May 2, 1947-Nov 30, 2023)
Ross passed away peacefully at home with his loving partner, Brenda Harris, by his side.
Beginning his teaching career in Toronto, Ross dedicated many rewarding years to educating and administrating for Simcoe County students. His keen wit and clever sense of humour will be dearly missed by family and friends. Always an avid sportsman, cottager and outdoor enthusiast, Ross found great joy on the water and in his favorite Muskoka chair. He treasured his many travels with Brenda and their cherished friends. Ross had a zest for living life on his terms. Determined and always focused, he exemplified unending courage throughout his sixteen-year Parkinson’s journey.
Ross dearly held a deep love for his entire family. He was a devoted father to Matthew and a dedicated stepfather to Lori (Colin) Pyne, Brad Harris, Juli (Patrick) Miller and Jenny Harris. Ross was predeceased by his parents Irene and Gordon, brothers Murray and David, and nephew Davy. He is survived by his sister Holly (Wayne) Lillico, Don (Judy) Phillips, Susan Phillips and his much loved nieces and nephews.
He was a fun and loving grandfather who always exhibited unlimited love and support. G’pa will be sadly missed but remembered always by Jack and Kevin Pyne, John, Kate and Natalie Harris, and Harris, Molly and Ruby Miller. Sharing Moose Tracks ice cream with his kids was the best.
As per Ross’ wishes there will be no formal Celebration of Life. Ross desired that celebrating his life could be as simple as taking a walk in the woods with a loved one, feeding the birds, planting a tree, putting a smile on someone’s face and/or contributing to your favourite charity.
