Vince Sergi

It is with the deepest sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the death of Vincenzo Sergi, a beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. He valiantly and courageously fought a battle with prostate cancer for seven years and died peacefully in his home at the age of 66 with his loving family around him.

He is predeceased by his parents Antonio Sergi and Maria Coralli. He was born in Fiumara, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1970 at the age of 12 with his mother Maria, sister Vittoria and brother Rocco. Years later he became a Barber and worked at Gentlemen’s Choice Hairstylists in the Georgian Mall for many years. He then moved on to his own business and opened VinceMatt Barbershop at 94 Bayfield Street. His son Matthew later joined him in the business. He also did professional photography for many years under “Photography by Vincenzo”, and no one could sit with him for very long before he pulled out his camera because he just wanted to take their picture. He also loved to sing and play guitar. He loved telling jokes and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He loved good food and will be lovingly remembered for his love of cooking delicious meals and inviting his friends and family to enjoy those meals with him.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Zola who has been by his side for 32 years, his beloved children Antonio, Cody, Matthew (Fernanda) and April, grandchildren Wesley and Emily Sergi, his dog Luna, brother Rocco (Margaret) Sergi, sister Vittoria Langman (Sergi), nieces Sarah Langman and Julia Sergi, nephew Marco Sergi; and by his many cousins and friends in Italy and Canada.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Cancer Care Program, especially Dr. Li, for their exceptional care over these last seven years, and to Dr. Evans for his care, support, and home visits. A special mention also goes out to Dr. Iocca.

A memorial Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie (entrance and parking on the HWY 400 side of building) on Monday, June 3, 2024. Visitation 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The memorial service will be 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. A reception will be held immediately after the service.
