Anna Lamon

1971 — January 1, 2022

Anna Maria Lamon died peacefully in her husband Tim’s arms on Saturday January 22, 2022, succumbing to metastatic melanoma.  Her last few weeks were spent at home surrounded by family.

Anna was born in Toronto on April 11, 1971.  Later, her parents who were recent immigrants from Bulgaria, moved to Wingham, Ontario where Anna grew up.  Through her high school years she became an accomplished athlete competing in several track and field events, but most notably in discus.  She set several Canadian records and was on a national champion relay team.  Anna had several Division one athletic scholarship offers, but opted to stay close to home where she attended Wilfrid Laurier University.  She met Tim in first year biology class.  He was immediately in love with her, but she took some convincing… Just after graduation in 1994, they were married.

In 1996, she took a big leap and returned to school at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and in 2000 she graduated and started her career in Barrie, Ontario.  Tim followed one year later.  In 2004 she gave birth to their first child, Rachel Claire, and in 2007 Thomas James joined the family.

Anna was, above all else, a caregiver.  Her family was always first, but her patients were a close second.  Chiropractic was not just a career for her, but a way of life, and over the years she developed deep relationships with her patients, many of which profoundly influenced her.  When she wasn’t at work, she was with her husband and children.  Together they spent countless hours taking them to their sporting events and spending as much time as possible with them.  On weekends in the summer, they spent most of their time at their cottage near Parry Sound.  The best part of her day; however, was always tuck-in time for the kids.  Sometimes these tuck-ins would last hours and many life lessons were taught, and learned, each night.

Anna is survived by her husband Tim, children Rachel and Tommy, parents Basil and Tanya Sakasov, brother Paul Sakasov, brother and sister-in-law Chris and Bonnie Sakasov, parents-in-law John and Joyce Lamon, sister-in-law Heather Lamon, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Anne and Steve Derry, and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  She also had many friends, with a special place in her heart for Sheila Frosa.

Anna was never one to be the center of attention and as such did not want a big funeral.  A Celebration of Anna will be planned at a later date.

Anna was very passionate about helping the less fortunate.  She would often buy a meal for a homeless person, or support those people who needed help with free chiropractic care.  In this spirit, we would like any donations that you would be inclined to make go the Barrie Food Bank.
