David (Reggie) Collingbourne

David passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, in London, Ontario.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette, his parents, Mary Anne and Ronald Francis, beloved father of Aaron Troy and Danielle Marie, his 2 brothers Ronald Gerard (Sue) and John Edward (Sara), his sister Anne Marie Noelle (Gill), uncle to Justin (Samantha), Alex (Katie), Ciara, Logan, Quinn, Christian, Victoria (Zack), Jayden, great uncle to Lilly and Ellis and to Beau and Evander. Predeceased by his bother Christopher John (2020) and his nephew Brandon Cole (1994).

David was born in North Bay, Ontario, in 1961, the first of a family that what would grow to include 5 children. The family moved 7 times in 12 years, arriving in Barrie, from Montreal, in 1972. David attended school in Barrie at St. John Vianney Elementary, St. Mary’s Elementary, St. Joseph’s Jr. High School and Central Collegiate. He and Jeanette set up home in Stroud with the 2 kids. David eventually relocated to Whitby and then London where he remained until his passing.

David held various positions in his early life before settling into a 20-year career in communications technology. He literally travelled the world, especially upgrading communication systems at Canadian embassies from Kazakhstan to Europe, China, Japan, Middle east, Africa, the Americas. He was an excellent student, being chosen valedictorian for his high school class. He loved golfing and was the golf columnist at the Barrie Examiner in the 80’s. His passion was hockey which he played first in Montreal/Pierrefonds, then Barrie at a competitive level, followed by many years of recreational hockey as player, coach and league organizer, in various communities. His nickname “Reggie” originated from hockey and his intense style of play.

Apart from hockey, David was always fun to be with, whether it was camping, woodworking, motorcycling or watching his movie collection. He loved socializing with family and friends. He loved all his family and spent untold hours with his brother Chris, as his caregiver, when Chris was also living in London and first diagnosed with cancer. David was buried, next to his brother Chris and nephew Brandon, in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barrie, Ontario, on Sept. 25, 2021

We miss you, Dave. You are forever in our hearts. We know you are together with your brother Chris and nephew Brandon, once again, in eternity. Rest in peace and God bless.
