Obituary

Dr. Robert Cantor

Robert Cantor M.D., F.R.C.P.(C) Child Psychiatrist

Bob passed peacefully in his home, where he wanted to be, on March 26, 2022, at the age of 77, with his wife Joanne who loves him with all her heart, his long-time very special nurse Colleen, two wonderful PSWs, and his cat Mika. Bob will be missed deeply by his beloved wife Joanne, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, nurses, doctors, and many psw's.

Bob studied medicine at Wayne State University, followed by McMaster University, where he was chief of staff specializing in child psychiatry, later publishing research with children's special abilities. He later took a position as chief of staff for children at White Oaks Children's Hospital. Afterward, he established a private practice in Barrie, specializing in ADHD. Bob spent many hours helping people, giving them whatever time they needed, never looking at the clock.

Bob loved the wilderness, his cabin, driving to unknown places and stopping for lunch, and was always studying something, even when off work. He had fun with scientific experiments, everything from antennas to magnetics fields, metals, and going to auctions to see what he could find and study. He was always building computers, magnetic motors, and gadgets.

Bob was a gentle soul, with a big heart, creative and a very powerful mind, with an exceptionally strong spirit, enduring many long years of hardship with his health. Bob had his career cut short because of his health, but, kept wanting to go back to work. Nevertheless, the serious illnesses continued, with years of suffering, but, somehow he got through it with a strong spirit, never complaining and never losing faith. The journey together brought many great gifts of deep love, closeness, compassion, unity, and most of all tremendous spiritual growth.

May God bless and make his transition peaceful and bless his soul and reward him for all his lifelong dedication to children, alleviating human suffering, and his long years of pain and suffering. We knew each other before this life, as we were from the same family, and we will be together again in the next world. Amen

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
